Instructor: Paige LaDue Henry – Artist & Instructor

Paige entered her first art show at age fifteen in southern California. She pursued the study of classical realism and traditional atelier methods with a focus on drawing, painting, portraiture and figure study. She went on to experience screen printing, batik, graphic, fiber arts, and art history. Over the years she has studied with many notable artists.

Having been born into a chaotic and dysfunctional family, Paige says that she retreated into art at an early age. She most definitely feels, “Art saved her!” She has never not felt like an artist. She feels that creating is absolutely necessary for her whole wellbeing.

Twenty years ago, she transitioned to her abstract style, working in acrylic mixed media. Exciting large paintings danced in her head, waiting to be released on canvas! The images would not rest until she committed to their creation. She finds layering the paint, oil pastel, charcoal, graphite, ink, paper, fabric and other materials gives her a great opportunity to create “happy accidents”, textures, history and the mystery that she is in search of.

For twenty-five years Paige has run a design/production studio, creating fashion accessories for the gift and wholesale trade, Northern Brights, Inc. in St. Cloud, Mn.

Paige is a firm believer that most people are WAY MORE creative than they think they are, all they need is a little instruction, the willingness to step outside their comfort zone, and have a sense of humor! Yup, it’s important to being some silliness to art class with you!

Crochet a Holiday Gift!

Crochet a Holiday Gift!

With the holidays fast approaching, the need for little gifts sneaks up on us. Perhaps you are feeling weary of buying the same old things for people each year. Or perhaps your previous DIY gifts have left your receivers a little underwhelmed?

Come join us for an intro to crochet and we'll set you up with the basic skills to make washcloths, bar soap scrubbies, and even coasters! Crochet is a forgiving method of crafting and a very mobile method! You can work on your small projects almost anywhere and tote them around easily. Let's start stitching!

We will be working with a size H (5) crochet hook and cotton yard (I prefer Sugar 'n Cream, but the Loops & Thread private label from Michael's would also be easy to get a hold of. I believe Wal-Mart also carries a yarn like this under their own private label called Peaches & Creme).

Mary Pow is a visual artist who works in two mediums: textiles and soft pastels. Her sewn fabric textile art is vibrant and abstract - and instantly recognizable with its architectural qualities. Her soft pastel paintings and drawings focus on scenes of nature and wonder.

Mary grew up in rural Minnesota, on a farm that had been in her family for four generations. Everything in her life was either homemade or handed down and she spent most of her time exploring and creating. She has a Masters of Architecture Degree, and it’s through this unique lens that her art practice has flourished. She works out of her art studio in N.E. Minneapolis and travels across the country to attend the nation’s top art fairs.

Mary delights in finding joy in the ordinary - and believes possibilities are everywhere if you know how to look.
