Cost: $45 with a $5 material fee payable to the artist on the day of class.

With a colored pencil in hand, we will explore the power of curiosity and creative expression to turn stress inside out so that we can recognize it in its new form: an opportunity for innovation and creative problem-solving. Using our favorite coloring utensils, we’ll stretch our imaginations and let the hidden artist inside us come out to play! Experiment and discover:

•The healing benefits of coloring

•The secret success of people who doodle

Meet your instructor: Sarah Routman is a visual storyteller with contagious energy, Sarah finds beauty in unexpected places and shares it through photography, doodles, coloring, and her recent exploration of acrylic paint-pouring.

Passionate about sustainability and creativity, Sarah often works with found and discarded materials, giving new life to what others overlook. Her art blends image and language, offering meditative experiences and moments of joy through poetry, writing, and visual expression.

With degrees in English, Photography, and Adult Education, Sarah has taught high school and college, led nonprofits, and now runs Laugh Healthy, where she teaches the science and practice of laughter—no jokes required—as a powerful tool for wellness. Most recently, she co-authored Discover the Power of Laughter: Jump-start your journey to health and joy with her identical twin sister, Rachael Siegelman.

Guided by the belief that “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond,” Sarah uses art, laughter, and sometimes chocolate to help people care for themselves—even in the most difficult moments.

Meet Your Instructor:

Mary Pow is a visual artist who works in two mediums: textiles and soft pastels. Her sewn fabric textile art is vibrant and abstract - and instantly recognizable with its architectural qualities. Her soft pastel paintings and drawings focus on scenes of nature and wonder.

Mary grew up in rural Minnesota, on a farm that had been in her family for four generations. Everything in her life was either homemade or handed down and she spent most of her time exploring and creating. She has a Masters of Architecture Degree, and it’s through this unique lens that her art practice has flourished. She works out of her art studio in N.E. Minneapolis and travels across the country to attend the nation’s top art fairs.

Mary delights in finding joy in the ordinary - and believes possibilities are everywhere if you know how to look.
